Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ): Is It Worth The Time?
It took me a while to decide whether to go through with Google's Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ), or if it was really worth my time. After hearing from other online marketers that 'it's a waste of time and money' and 'you can learn it all on your own, it's easy', I decided not to go through the program and to focus on other more important things. But then I changed my mind and decided that if I want to use Google Analytics correctly, I should go through their material.
The material Google provides at Conversation University is free to the public, but to write the test and to obtain a certificate of completion, there is a fee of $50.
I learned a lot about Google Analytics in the past few months. Analytics data is very interesting, sometimes the figures just surprise you. So I decided to go through the material at Conversion University to solidify my knowledge of Google Analytics, and to fill the in the missing gaps that I may have left while not going through their program.
Google describes The Google Analytics Individual Qualification (or Google Analytics IQ) as “a proof of proficiency in Google Analytics that is available to any individual who has passed the Google Analytics IQ test”.
I totally agree with Google's statement here. I believe, whether you are a newbie coming into the internet marketing world, or you're a born-to-be marketing geek, it's worth going through the material and putting your knowledge to the test.
Last night (Sunday) I went through all the course material (videos and slides) from beginning to end, then redid the test (yes, I failed on my first attempt and had to wait 15 days before writing it again, but I studied hard!). I did this to ensure I got all the material down, so then I can say 'I know this Google Analytics thing, and maybe I can help'. 🙂
Take caution, some questions on the test were quite tricky, in my opinion. Good luck to those taking the test, and I hope you will find it advantageous to go through the program, as I did for myself.
Here is my certificate to prove that I did indeed pass 🙂
